Acrylic on stretched canvas. 36"x36"

When I moved from Connecticut to Alabama I thought it fitting to commence my new life here with a painting of the AL state bird~ the Yellow Hammer.

Both birds in the painting are male, you can tell by the "chin strap" marking that only the males have. But i didnt realize this until after I painted this! At first I thought this was a love scene, a male and female, perhaps the big red one was the female all big red and moody like I often feel these post partum days.. but when I realized they were both males, It became more spiritual to me. The yellow, fully rendered bird respresenting the Son, perched on the right hand and looking to the larger, not fully rendered bird, who looks almost transparent. That one represents the Father.. both of them surounded by a colorful, flowing, growing fruit vine~ the Spirit!

I love God and I can't help but see this painting as an illustration of Him and Him and Him!
